The Santa Monica Police Officer’s Association will once again host the California Peace Officer’s Memorial Caravan. The Southern California contingent of the caravan consists of law enforcement agencies from the southern California area, who will join with central and northern California agenicies, in a statewide tour en route to the state capital for this solemn tribute.
The ceremonies at the Capitol will honor those officers who have died in the line of duty protecting the lives of the state's citizens. The officers lost in 2007 will be memorialized by adding their names to the Peace Officer Memorial monument, located adjacent to the Capitol.
The memorial caravan consists of uniformed officers who will drive police vehicles representative of their agency in a procession. It is estimated the line of police vehicles en route to the state Capitol will be over a mile long.
The Southern California contingent will leave Valencia, CA (staging area / briefing) on the morning of May 8, 2008. The Central California contingent will join the caravan near Interstate 5 and Highway 198. Additional agencies will join the caravan along the route to Sacramento.
The Santa Monica Police Officers Association organized the memorial caravan 18 years ago to ambassador respect, honor, and solidarity in the memory of those who have gone before us in the pursuit of justice and safety of others.
Please join us in honoring our fallen brothers and sisters. |
